It started
with a V60.

Studio 60 brings coffee from small roasters to one table: first to taste together at a tasting, then home with you in a tasting box or a subscription. We’re getting ready to launch.

Coffee can taste of cocoa, of berries, or almost like tea.

How a coffee tastes depends on where it comes from, how it’s processed and how it’s roasted, and on the roaster who brings all of that together. We put coffees from different small roasters side by side, taste them with you and find out what you like. We’ll explain the technical terms when they help.

Roasters by name

Every coffee comes with the name of its roaster. We introduce small German roasters you won’t find in a supermarket.

Tasting together.

The easiest way to get to know coffee is at a table, with a few cups in front of you and someone to answer your questions. So that’s where we’re starting.

  • Tasting

Roasters call it cupping: several coffees side by side, tasted with a spoon. You smell, taste and compare, ask questions and find out what you like.

  • For teams

A tasting at your office or as a team event. We’ll agree the date and format with you.

The tasting box

Try coffees from several roasters without buying a whole bag of each. Every coffee comes in a drip bag, a small filter for one cup, with a card that tells you where it’s from, who roasted it and what it tastes like.

How a drip bag works:

  1. tear.
  2. hang.
  3. pour.

All you need is hot water and a cup.

A subscription matched to your taste

Once you know what you like, you can keep discovering new coffees in that direction, from different roasters. You pick a taste profile and we choose coffees to match.

How do you like your coffee?

Chocolatey and nutty.Cocoa, hazelnut, a touch of caramel. Round, with little acidity.

Sweet and balanced.Brown sugar, honey, ripe fruit. Mild and smooth.

Fruity and bright.Berries, citrus, stone fruit. Lively, with fresh acidity.

Floral and tea-like.Jasmine, bergamot, black tea. Light and delicate.

Bold and roasty.Dark chocolate, roasted notes, spice. Full-bodied.

A preview: the profiles aren’t final yet.

Questions

When do you launch?

There’s no date yet. If you’re on the waitlist, you’ll be the first to know.

What happens at a tasting?

Several coffees are set out side by side. First you smell the freshly ground coffee, then hot water goes on, and after a few minutes you taste with a spoon. You compare, talk about it and notice what you like.

Do I need to know about coffee?

No. At a tasting we’ll explain whatever you want to know.

What is specialty coffee?

Coffee that’s handled with care from farm to roast. Officially, it’s coffee that scores at least 80 out of 100 on the Specialty Coffee Association’s scale. For you, it mostly means you can taste where it comes from.

What will the box and subscription cost?

Prices aren’t set yet. We want the tasting box to cost less than buying several full bags.

Can I pause or cancel the subscription?

That’s the plan: at any time, with no minimum term. We haven’t decided yet how often deliveries will be.

How much packaging is there?

More than with a bag of beans, because every drip bag is wrapped separately. We haven’t chosen the materials yet.

Where will the tastings be?

That isn’t decided yet. When you sign up, you can give us your postcode, so we can see where interest is highest.

Do you ship abroad?

We haven’t decided yet.

Why Studio 60?

It’s named after the V60, a cone-shaped pour-over dripper. That’s where it all started.
